Notes: Fort Lookout is a military earthworks and redoubt perched at a strategic location 50 feet above a bend in the Ouachita River. The site was meant to protect Camden from Union troop advances. The redoubt was occupied briefly by the Union in April 1864, before being abandoned due to dwindling supplies. It was subsequently reoccupied by the Confederacy, and expanded to provide better coverage. Fort Lookout is one of the sites that is associated with the Camden Expedition (see below). The site has experienced moderate incursion due to the construction of a modern residence, but is otherwise intact.
