Notable past owners: John T. Burkett - prosperous riverboat captain and cotton farmer, as well as co-owner of Elliott Lumber Company. Burkett was also employed by the district penal system, and was eventually appointed supervisor of Cummins Prison. Burkett moved away from the area after being offered a job with the IRS in Oklahoma City.
