The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad completed their mainline from Chicago to Seattle during 1909. Most of the line west of Harlowton, MT, was electrified, but not through Castleton. This would have been the site of substation 18 if this section had been completed. The electric operations ended during June 1974, and the line through here was abandoned during March 1980.
