This plaque commemorates the Jewish couple Ella and Moses Braaf who lived here from 1932 to 1967. In World War II, they could hide, but in 1945 they were betrayed and deported to Westerbork. They survived the war and returned to Bourtange.
Mozes died in 1967, Ella in 1970. Later on their house was demolished. The memorial is erected on it's former location.
