Estate home designed c. 1930 in the Tudor style by Roger H. Bullard of the firm of Goodwin, Bullard & Woolsey on originally 32 acres of land for Henry Upham Harris, Sr {financier, capitalist, industrialist}. Upham served as partner of J.P. Morgan & Co., chairman of Harris Upham & Co., and director of Chemical Bank, Southern Pacific Railroad, and Texaco. Inspiration for the entry was taken from Upper Swell Manor, Gloucestershire in England.

The 31.56-acre property includes a gatehouse, a greenhouse, a pool and a tennis court. Louise Payson and Ellen Biddle Shipman jointly designed formal landscaping. The stone used for the estate taken from the excavation of New York City’s subway system tunnels.
