Summer home designed c. 1949 by Matthiessen, Johnson & Green (Greishaber & Neilan?) in the Moderne style for John Hay Whitney (1904–1982), known as Jock Whitney. He was U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, publisher of the New York Herald Tribune, and president of the Museum of Modern Art. Whitney also lived at "Greentree" in Manhasset on Long Island.
