3-story postmodern hotel originally completed in 1960 as a motel. The original design by Wechsler & Schimenti was completely remodeled inside and out in 2009 and the building was re-opened as the Out Hotel. It was renamed the Cachet Boutique Hotel in 2018. It spans through the block, with facades on both 42nd and 41st Streets. The north facade on 42nd Street is lined with plate-glass storefronts on the ground floor, a glass main entrance in the center, and a freight bay at the west end. The upper floors are faced in a mirrored glass curtain wall outlined in white cast-stone. It is split into three main sections by a pair of vertical bays where the mirrored glass gives way to clearer windows and visible delineations between the floors. At the east section, there is a large rectangle of black glass at the 2nd floor, outlined in white stone. A shorter such rectangle breaks the roof line at the top of the 3rd floor in the middle section, and two additional short rectangles mark the base of the 2nd floor at the ends of the west section.
The south facade on 41st Street is clad in brick, painted in broad stripes of white and black. There is a small service door at both ends and near the center, and paired windows along the rest of the ground floor. There are two wide bands of windows at the two upper floors at the west end, and four bands at the east end. A metal railing marks the roof line.
The interior of the site features three small courtyards. The hotel has 105 guest rooms and suites, including novel accommodations such as pet-friendly Dog House Suites, and Sleep Share dormitory-style rooms. Also occupying the ground floor are a spa, art gallery, and 42 d'Or nightclub.
