Huge complex of 1500 square meters built in late bronze I and abandoned by around 1400 bce. The monumental entrance of the palace was on east side in the "North Palace Street" and led to a courtyard extended by an open room with columns perpendicular to the vestibule: a structural sequence repeated in other palatial building of Ugarit (house of Yabninu and the Royal Palace itself). The ruins are badly damaged and the site is difficult to interpretate. The North Palace was carefully emptied of its content before being abandoned as the archaeologists found few characteristic objects in it, probably when the king decided to build a new greater palatial structure: The Royal palace.
