Two 3" masking pedestal mount guns were mounted here from 1899 to 1943.

Battery McCorkle was named on May 15, 1903 in honor of 1st Lieutenant Henry L. McCorkle, 25th U.S. Infantry, who was killed July 1, 1898 at the Battle of El Caney, Cuba.
