Two 8" disappearing carriage guns were mounted here from 1901 to 1942.

Battery Honeycutt was named on March 24, 1900 in honor of the late Captain John T. Honeycutt, 6th U.S. Artillery, a distinguished artillerist, who died October 12, 1898, of typhoid fever contracted in the faithful performance of duty in the field.
