The magnificent Kinsol Trestle is the highest and largest surviving timber trestle in Canada. At 614 feet (187 metres) in length and standing 145 feet (44 metres) above the salmon bearing Koksilah River, the Kinsol Trestle is reportedly one of the four largest wooden structures in the world. It was built in 1921 for the former CNR railway line to Cowichan Lake.

Kinsol Trestle had been derelict for many years and was threatened with demolition, but a major campaign successfully obtained funding to restore the historic structure. Rehabilitation began in spring 2010, with the trestle becoming open to walking and cycling traffic in summer 2011. It now forms an important part of the multi-use Trans Canada Trail, and is a Regional Park.
