 bank, interesting place

Former main banking hall for the Central Savings Bank which was designed c. 1926 by York & Sawyer. The cavernous, vaulted space features a 65' coffered ceiling echoing the look of Florence's Davanzati Palace. It also features extensive ironwork by Samuel Yellin who fabricated the grilles, gates, lanterns, brackets, doors, windows, bank screens, mailboxes, and signs. The executive offices on the mezzanine level were decorated by the Barnet Phillips Company.
