The Modern Language Centre at Southern University College was established to enhance our vision of a trilingual University College as well as becoming a centre for multi-lingual learning. Our long term vision is to make Southern University College a core centre for language learning with courses specially run for students, professionals and the general public.

Students who would like to improve their communication skills in English are welcome to spend time at MLC as it spares a room specially for the above purpose. This room is called the English Language Lounge. There are English magazines and newspapers as well as games and music to make using English pleasurable and natural. Furthermore, there are lecturers and professors who serve as the Language Helpers to answer the students their questions on grammar and language in the Lounge.

In addition, Modern Language Centre organizes English Workshops for the students and public to improve their oral and written skills on a regular basis.

Courses offered in the Centre are mainly English writing, Basic Chinese, Japanese Language and Korean Language.
