city, municipality, second-level administrative division, draw only border

Iskandar Puteri is the southernmost city within the Malaysian state of Johor, and by extension, Peninsular Malaysia. The city borders Singapore to the south, the city of Johor Bahru (JB) to the east, the town of Kulai to the north and the town of Pontian to the west. Iskandar Puteri encompasses 367 sq km of the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia by the Strait of Johor. It now serves as Johor's de facto administrative centre, after the relocation of state government offices from JB in 2009. As of 2010, the city had a population of 529,074.

In 1978, eight local governments to the west of JB were merged to form the Johor Bahru Tengah municipality. In 2009, Johor government agencies were relocated from JB to Johor Bahru Tengah. The municipality was renamed Iskandar Puteri in 2015 and granted city status in 2017.

The offices of the Johor government are concentrated at Kota Iskandar, which forms the administrative enclave within the city centre. Adjacent to Kota Iskandar is the newer Central Business District (CBD) of Medini. The sprawl city also consists of several suburbs such as Skudai and Gelang Patah, as well as the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia's second busiest sea port. Iskandar Puteri is connected with neighbouring Singapore via the Tuas Second Link.
