The Brainerd & Northern narrow gauge logging railroad crossed the Mississippi River at this site, on a bridge built in 1884. It supplied the mills in Brainerd from the forests north of the city. The bridge was converted for road use, and lasted until 1950. The current bridge carries Crow Wing County Highway 3 over the river, and dates from 1951.
