Hyatt Place New York/Midtown-South (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / West 36th Street, 54

277-foot, 25-story postmodern hotel completed in 2012. Designed by Peter Poon, it is set far back from the sidewalk and clad in red and beige brick. A 1-story base at the east three-fourths of the facade is not quite as far set back and contains the main entrance as well as a restaurant. A metal canopy from the entrance extends out to the sidewalk. At the west end of the ground floor are two metal service doors.

The bottom six floors are clad in red brick, with uneven double-windows in the end bays, and a middle section of two tripartite windows separated by grey double metal panels. All the framing is grey metal. The 7th-21st floors all have four total bays - with the same uneven double-windows at the edges, and tripartite-windowed bays closer to the center. These floors are clad in beige brick, except for a red brick section in the center at the 12th-16th floors. The top four floors have the same metal-framed middle section as the lower floors; the outer piers are beige brick, and the two piers framing the metal section have red brick. A sloping, silver metal parapet tops the center section, angling up from east to west.

The windowless side walls are clad in plain beige brick. The hotel contains 185 guest rooms.
