Roman Catholic Cathedral church for the Diocese of Cardiff, and mother church of the Province of Cardiff. St David cathedral was built in 1842 after the massive arrival of 12,000 catholic people from Ireland. It was dedicated to the Patron of Wales Saint David after the request of Lady Catherine Eyre of Bath who was the main benefactress.

One of two churches in the city centre consecrated to Saint David.
