Located in the Siuslaw National Forest, Mt. Hebo is about 5 air miles from the Pacific Ocean and is 3154 feet above sea level. From 1956 to 1980 the Mt. Hebo Air Force Station was located atop Mt. Hebo. In 1984 the Air Force facilities were removed and the site returned to nature. Views from the mountain are spectacular. Mt. Hood is easily visible on the eastern skyline. An 8.5 mile access road runs from the town of Hebo to the mountain top. During the fall and winter heavy snowfall and high winds are normal.
