A seasonal set-netting fishing village. A Russian trading post was established here in 1819 and was known as Aleksandrovsk. It was later called Fort Alexander after Alaska was transferred to the United States. It takes its current name of Nushagak from a former nearby post office that operated from 1899 to 1935.
