abandoned / shut down, brownfield land
The former Carrier-Bryant property covers 20 acres that once included five manufacturing and warehouse buildings. The site was used for machine and tool manufacturing as well as a heating and air conditioning plant from the 1950s until approximately 1980. In 1985, the property was sold and used for warehousing hardware store supplies. Since 2000, the property has been abandoned. The City of Indianapolis acquired the land and partnered with the EPA for environmental remediation in 2012.
