Lockheed Propulson Company Beaumont Site 1 (Potrero Site)
FYI: I was an experience land broker in this area and sold many ranches and large parcels of land. I always had the seller pay for a licensed surveyor to find all the corners of the property I sold. I would accompany the survey crew so that I knew exactly where the property was. Therefore, I was very familiar with the lands in this area.
Lockheed Land; additional plot that I added because Wikimapia did not permit me to show the 9,100 acre plot of land as one plot of land. Try to imagine all the different parcels of Lockheed land together and you will get an idea how vast 9,100 acres was. 9,100 acres is almost as big as the City of Beaumont was back in the 1960's. Lockheed Propulsion Company called this land Beaumont Site 1 and sometimes called it the Potrero site.
The Spanish Land Grant was called San Jacinto Nuevo Y Potrero. There is a USGS topo map showing this land grant, and of course, the Lockheed land on the Peakbagger.com website. Enter the name of the closest peak "Dellamont, San Jacinto, California, USA. Scroll the USGS map up and left to find San Jacinto Nuevo Y Potrero (northwest of Dellamont peak).

You may like to see the close up photos I took of this place in 2014, when I was given legal permission to enter it. They can be seen on (flickr.com Lockheed Potrero).

I have given you some websites to visit to see the Lockheed 9,100 acre plot of land show as one parcel. Look at the Lockheed Martin maps shown on Figure 1 & Figure 2 to see how the 9,000 acres over layed on street maps showing the local roads.

I am retired now, but I remember when Lockheed Propulsion Company tested (not launched) huge rocket motors there. The ground shook like an earthquake and the sound of the blasts would make me jump right out of my seat in my real estate office in San Jacinto! There is a story going around that the owner of the Smith Ranch, next to the Lockheed Propulsion Company Beaumont Site 1, sued Lockheed to buy his ranch because the blasts actually destroyed his well. As the story goes Lockheed’s defense was that they tried to buy his ranch before they started testing the rockets and made him aware of the blasts. He refused to sell his ranch to Lockheed at that time, but later ended up selling his ranch to Lockheed because his well got all silted up from the blasts. I cannot confirm or deny that story, but it makes a interesting story, doesn’t it? Look online: for Smith vs Lockheed Propulsion Company.

For years I wanted to go up into that secret place and see it for myself. Finally in 2014, thanks to some people I know, I got legal permission to visit this place. I am glad I did because I saw a place where secret research was carried out in the 1960's and 1970's for our national defense.
It has been a blast sharing my stories with you. I love you all, Tommy Boy!
