The only village on the island, where's only one farm, inhabited by two families. Settlement was one of the first place inhabited on the Faroe Islands and it's mentioned in Færeyinga Saga. Brothers Beinir i Brestir from Skúvoy lived there, second of them was father of Sigmundur Brestisson, who's important character in saga, responsible for introducing Christianity on the Faroe Islands. In the Middle Ages at leas seven families lived in the village, there was even church. Ruins of the second one were well preserved around 1920, but currently only footing left.
