Translated into "Sand Island" Sandoy lies in the central part of the Faroe Islands archipelago. It's name was taken from biggest sand beaches on the Faroe Islands. It's agricultural centre of the archipelago, with best soil. People from Sandoy gathered in 2015 into "Veltan" which is agricultural union. Biggest towns on the island are Sandur and Skopun. There are many cliffs on the coast of island, which makes it perfect habitat for many kinds of sea birds.
