Kabile Nun's Monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin

Bulgaria / Jambol /
 nunnery, Bulgarian Orthodox Church

The monastery is called Rozhdestvo na Presveta Bogoroditsa wich means The nativity of Holy Mary Monastery in English. It's a worth visit if you are in the area.
In 4-5th c. the monastery was a big religious centre. Later it became an Orthodox Convent until the fall of Bulgaria under Turkish rule, when it was destroyed. The memory of the magical spring of the monastery was handed down from generation to generation. In 1918 an elderly woman from the town of Sliven found the spring after a prophetic dream. At this place one small chapel appeared, built by rich people, around which a monastery was gradually erected. The construction of the monastery lasted until 1944 with funds from donations.
