Designed by Peter T Rosello and constructed in 1923 as a meeting place for the local Slovak community, the two story building included a banquet hall, dance floor, auditorium and a bowling alley upstairs. Home to a number of social and fraternal groups, it also played an important role in Detroit's labor history as the meeting place for striking workers. During the 1960's a portion of the building was home to the Cavalier Lounge.
By 1990 the building was acquired by the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church which is now located at 5261 Dubois Street.
