The reserve is a complex with numerous karst caves, pits, springs, and the rock phenomenon Orlitsata, located on the territory of the town of Kotel, the village of Medven, Sliven District. It is differentiated in order to preserve the centuries-old forests of mystic beech, habitats of rare raptors and a unique karst complex.
Orlitsata is a reserve with Ordinance No. 791 from 10.08.1984.
