Streamline Moderne (architecture), apartments, 1940_construction
Emery Roth designed apartment complex completed in 1940 for a syndicate of Henry Kaufman, Samson Rosenblatt, and Herman Wacht. It is one of the largest apartment buildings built since the Depression began. It has a commanding view of the Hudson View to the West. Due to the economic conditions that prevailed and the unnecessary luxury needed, it is a near byproduct of Roths earlier San Remo and the Beresford without the excess and ornate detailing. It has a blend of both modern streamlining but also maintains classical proportions.
