This cemetery has a unique underground cellar in which priests used to be buried in olden days. It was not used for the past fifty years for such purposes. Recently the cemetery was renovated and as a part of renovation, the cellar was cleaned and the sand from late Mar Mathew Kavukatt's tomb is kept here in the central vault.
