Comments

  • A big pit quarry. There used to be underground mining going on, but the old tunnels & chambers are now collapsed or quarried away (most). At the moment extraction is taking place at the bottom of the quarry, with the slate being brought out via a cutting.
  • Most of chambers were below quarry, or in hillside and were often opened to surface. But the tunnels still remain.
  • Still worked by Burlington, opencast - none of tunnels currently used for transport, almost all slate mines now collapsed.
  • no underground bits left... i think, but i can't be bothered to climb up the quarryface to get to all the tunnels....
