PKV lands in Nagpur are practically the Lungs of Nagpur City. The university has lost dozens of acres of its land in last 40-50 years in Kachipura, Bajaj Nagar, Telangkhedi, Wadi etc. Now, for the first time, the university's Land Protection Committee (LPC) has taken up the issue seriously and initiated process of freeing the land of encroachments. The entire stretch of land from Bajaj Nagar square to Ramdaspeth square is encroached upon by marriage lawns, restaurants, garages etc. A huge area is under cultivation by the Kachi community. Authorities have begun to look for ownership papers only after government began asking for transfer of some stretches of land for projects like metro, road widening etc.
