At the unknown date after the Armenian genocide, it was destroyed by local gold seekers, and stones carrying Armenian inscriptions and ornaments were widly used by local Kurds for the construction of their houses and fences. No trace of the monastery at its initial place remained, though older generation of Kurds living in the village point the hilltop at the side of the village.
