The sign on the front of the building says "Calvert Foundry" but the whole name is "Old Calvert Foundry and Manufacturing Company". It was founded about 1870 as one of Calvert's first industries. They made iron farm implements, such as plows. This building gained status as a Texas Historical Landmark in 1969.
