The ancient site of Pteleon or Pteleos, mentioned by Homer. The archaeological site features the remains of an ancient wall and other buildings, including five Mycenaean beehive tombs (tholoi). The town was ultimately destroyed by the Romans in 171 BC and apparently abandoned.
