The wetlands of Nea Fokea are a “Special Protection Zone” of the NATURA 2000 network with code GR1270013. The biotope is located in the wider zone of Nea Fokea and Nea Potidea and stretches over an area of 4,400 roods. The Forest Inspection Office of Kassandria is responsible for the preservation of the area. The wetlands of Nea Fokea have the form of coastal marshes. A great variety of species is found in these extremely important ecosystems.
