St. Catherine University (also known as St. Kate's) is a private Catholic university, with a college for women at its heart, located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. There is also a campus in Minneapolis. Enrollment is 5,246 students. With approximately 2,900 bachelor's students, it is the largest university for women in the United States. The Saint Paul campus of St. Catherine was founded in 1905 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. It was named for Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The Minneapolis campus was founded in 1887 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet as St. Mary's School of Nursing. It was renamed St. Mary's Junior College and then merged with the College of St. Catherine in 1986. The school was known as the College of St. Catherine until June 2009. (Wikipedia)
