Stepnogirs'k in Ukrainian or Stepnogorsk in Russian. An urban type settlement in Vasylivskyj rajon (district) of Zaporiz'ka oblast' (province) of Ukraine. The name stands for "a Steppe mine (town)". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steppe
Since 1918, there was the village Suhoivanovka here. Stepnogirs'k was founded in 1987 as a satellite town of Taurida mining and enrichment plant, based on Velikotokmakskij deposits of manganese ores. But in 1995, the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine has decided to close the plant because of unprofitability. The world demand for ore was on the decline, the needs of Ukrainian ferroalloy plants in the raw material covered by Ordzhonikidze and Marganets mining and enrichment plants, as well as through imports. This decision affected the most disastrous in the settlement.
