This building formerly supported the Zeus Discrimination Radar (ZDR or DR). This radar was used to watch the "threat tube" of an incoming warhead and attempt to distinguish the warhead from the radar decoys surrounding it. Although details remain classified, it appears the DR failed in this mission.

The radar had 20 MW of output and was a serious health hazard, To protect people on the island, as well as prevent local reflections off nearby buildings, the entire site was surrounded by two large circular metal fences. The path of the inner fence is more easily visible as the ring road and track near the building. The outer fence ran along the shoreline and can be made out as a line of posts (??) along the west side of the building (left). To provide access for maintenance while the radar was running, a long metal tunnel was constructed from the building to the outer fence, which can be seen extending to the southeast (down and right) through the trees.
