interesting place, historical layer / disappeared object, historic ruins
Lousetown was 2 miles north of Virginia City, NV in the 1860s there was a racetrack and a prizefighting ring, as neither were allowed in Virginia city. Lousetown was an important route to Reno, but once Geiger grade was finished in the late 1860s, stage & freight traffic declined and slowly disappeared, only foundations remain.
Lousetown consisted of about a dozen buildings, lodging facilities, wagon & blacksmith shop, here teamsters, cattlemen & miners met each other in coming and goings. The 1rst race track was at nearby Ice Lake, with a second one replacing it in Long Valley, it was a tough little sporting center for the Comstock crowd.
