This building is first found on the 1876 Pease-Walker map, where it is labeled as “Spring Valley Chapel.” According to the Bergen County Historic Sites Survey, it was a school in 1894, but no documentation is given. (Frederick Bogert’s book on the history of Paramus places the school in 1894 on the property of John C. Van Saun in the vicinity of the Grange Hall.) The building is labeled “Spring Valley School No. 1” on the 1902 Robinson map. Today it is a private residence.
