Historic remains of a Civil War fort built in 1864 by Confederate Lt. Gen. Jubal Early. A one-story Neoclassical-style building was constructed in 1922 within the original fort walls. This building is occupied by Fort Hill Women's Club. Located across Memorial Avenue from Fort Early is a 17-foot tall granite obelisk memorializing General Early. This monument was erected in 1919. The fort and the monument are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
