Historic Greek Revival-style African American almshouse dating to about 1840. The oldest building on the property dates to about 1725, and there are a couple other historic buildings on the property as well. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The almshouse is now a local history museum called the Barrier Islands Center.
