Connects travelers heading north to the New Jersey Turnpike (NJTP) running almost parallel with I-95. The bridge costs $3 to cross (westbound only) but saves plenty of time. It is owned and operated by the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA), an agency that controls all Delaware River and Bay crossings between Delaware and New Jersey. Longest single span twin type bridge in the world.

The southern, Eastbound span was built in 1950, the westbound span in 1968.

  • The only bridge the Delaware River and Bay Authority controls is the Delaware Memorial Bridge. An organization with a similar name, the Delaware River and PORT Authority, controls the Commodore Barry, Walt Whitman, Ben Franklin and Betsy Ross Bridges. The others are controlled by other various groups.
  • Yes, but those crossings are not between DELAWARE and New Jersey. DRBA controls DELAWARE-NEW JERSEY crossings, also including the Cape May-Lewis ferry.
