The southernmost bridge under the jurisdiction of the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA), the Commodore Barry Bridge is a vital link from I-95 and I-476 near Chester, PA, to southern New Jersey and the Jersey Shore. Its eastern terminus is in Bridgeport, New Jersey.

Many residents of Delaware County utilize the bridge to access New Jersey's southernmost shore resort points.

The bridge carries US 322, which runs from Cleveland, OH, to Atlantic City, NJ. Exit ramps are currently being constructed on the westbound portion of the bridge for motorists to access the Chester waterfront via Pennsylvania Route 291. Currently, westbound ramps allow drivers to access US 13 in Chester or Interstate 95. A $6 toll is required to cross the bridge westbound; no toll is charged eastbound.
