NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, 1790s construction
Better known as Old Bohemia Church, St. Francis Xavier Church is the cradle of Catholicity in the Delmarva Peninsula and the mother church of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington. It is, therefore, of prime interest to us locally and nationally, especially for the critical role it played in the formation of the colonial American Catholic Church. In spite of fire, neglect, and occasional disarray, Old Bohemia stands proudly today as a testament to three centuries of faith.
