Opened in 1934, the Mercier Bridge connects the Mohawk community of Kahnawake with the Montreal borough of LaSalle. Other South Shore communities that also depend on the Mercier Bridge for commuting to work include Chateauguay, St Catherine, St Constant, Delson, Mercier, St Remi, Beauharnois and Salaberry de Valleyfield.
