 homeless shelter, Romanesque (architecture), 1926_construction

5-story Romanesque-revival homeless shelter completed in 1926 as a manufacturing building. It is clad in red brick, with the 3-bay western section in a different iron-spot brick. The windows are all segmental-arched, with rough stone sills and brick lintels with drop-feet. At the eastern part of the roof is a crenelated brick parapet.

In 2004, the building was converted to a residence and service center for homeless youths with H.I.V. and AIDS, usually housing about 50 residents. The building suffered damage from Superstorm Sandy in 2012, and was closed until 2014.
