office building, art museum / art gallery, 1931_construction

161-foot, 11-story gallery and office building completed in 1931. Designed by Clinton & Russell as a warehouse, it served as one of the Baker and Williams warehouses, which were used to house tons of radioactive ore for the Manhattan Project during World War II. It is clad in reddish-brown brick, with five bays of windows grouped into pairs. Those at the western bay have been replaced by glass blocks. The end bays both rise to the full height of the buildings, while the center steps back slightly above the 9th floor. Several protruding air conditioning units dot the facade.

In 1996, it was renovated and now houses a number of art galleries and art-related businesses. Some of the galleries include Kim Foster Gallery, I-20, ACA Galleries and Stefan Stux Gallery.
