The High Line Building

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / West 14th Street, 450
 office building, high-rise, 1934_construction, 2010_construction

192-foot, 15-story modernist office building originally completed in 1934 as a 4-story Art-Deco warehouse built for the New York Central Railroad. It was later used as a meat-packing plant. The High Line rail way (now a park) runs through the 2nd floor of the formerly-tan brick facade. In 2008 construction began on an 11-story addition atop the existing structure.

Designed by Morris Adjmi with DXA Studio, it was completed in 2010 and opened as an office building called The High Line Building. The new tower is steel-framed, with a green glass curtain wall framed in metal. Glass wedge indentations on the north and south faces of its tower corroborate the dynamic and angled intrusion of the High Line below. The original tan masonry of the lower floors have been painted dark grey. A staircase and frosted glass-enclosed elevator connect the building to the High Line park and the street level.

The building is home to offices of several luxury contemporary fashion brands.
