 apartment building, 1911_construction, housing cooperative

7-story cooperative-apartment building completed in 1911. Designed by Louis Charles Maurer as a 6-story warehouse and maraschino cherry factory. It is clad in orange brick with slightly projecting pilasters dividing the facade into a central bay of three windows, and two end bays of two windows each. A wide stone bandcourse separates the 1st and 2nd floors. It has a rather unusual entrance that is five steps up to a platform with a small canopy that leads into a small but bright lobby. The entrance steps are parallel to the building.

When it was converted to residential use, an additional floor was constructed covering the eastern two bays, with protruding lines of brick extending down onto the pilasters. The facade is dotted with protruding air-conditioners.
