165 Charles Street

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Charles Street, 165
 condominium, high-rise, 2005_construction

190-foot, 16-story modernist residential building completed in 2005. Designed by Richard Meier, one of the "New York Five" architects who came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970’s for their adoption of the clean and bright lines of Le Corbusier, this tower is a later and larger complement to his two Perry Street towers (north & South) immediately to the north. Those two "mini" "twins" attracted many celebrities and significantly reinforced the lower Hudson River waterfront as the neighborhood of choice for the "hip" and "chic" and rich.

165 Charles contains 31 condominium units, and is clad completely in a silver-blue glass curtain wall encased in white steel with slim green spandrels. The southwest corner has recessed balconies overlooking the Hudson River and downtown.
